I think that computers make it so much easier for teachers to abide by the ELA technology standards because computers make our lives so much easier. Another tool that could be used is an Elmo where you would project the shared reading book so all of the students have access to the text. There are also apps that can make the standards much easier to understand. I personally am not very familiar with the ELA technology standards so it would require a lot of learning on my part. There are many technological applications mentioned in chapter 9 that can be used as tools for learning. For example, Instagram can be used for digital storytelling, a launching point for different activities, etc. There is also Pinterest which you can use to gather information and photos of interest. Personally for my range of students which would be about ages four-six (kindergartners) those apps would most likely be difficult for them to maneuver. So, instead I would introduce early learning apps to the chil...

All through elementary, middle, and highschool our teachers taught us how to use Microsoft Word. So from an early age I was already familiar with how to use it and the way it works. I personally have used MS Word to type papers, take notes, and complete homework. My previous teachers used MS Word to show us their syllabus or their notes, as well as using it to show us how to type and prepare our papers. Copywriting/plagiarizing is something that educators take very seriously. In no instance is it acceptable to plagiarize. In high school they took it very seriously and if anyone plagiarized they would earn and automatic zero as well as being punished in some other way such as out of school or in school suspension. As a teacher if I found out one of my students full on plagiarized their entire assignment or paper I would talk to them but most likely give them a zero because that is unacceptable to take the entirety of someone else's work and act as if it is your own. But, if I had...

There are many things that influence teachers to use technology in the classroom. The ability to use technology is a very useful skill that makes everyones lives easier. Teachers in particular have standards that have to be met in order for their students to reach the goals that are mapped out for them to achieve success. The teachers need to make sure that their students become productive citizens in society and to do so, they need to be able to master the skills for understanding technology. There are many easy tools such as press, photo story, etc that teachers can use and make their lives easier. Social networking also influences not just teachers but students as well. Social networking and interactive learning keeps students and teachers on their toes and keeps them updated and informed with the newest information. Students are influenced by their different learning styles whether they realize it or not. Learning styles determine which way is best for students to learn for ex...

I am very familiar with technology because from even as young as elementary school, our teachers started teaching us about technology. We used computers, overhead projectors, and then eventually overtime started using laptops, smart boards, phones, etc. Our teachers did a very good job of making sure we were up to date with the newest technology out there. I hope to learn more about technology in this class and how we will be able to use it to inform others. Technology is an important part of educating others and it also makes our lives way easier. I hope to learn new skills and become familiar with new technology. I learned today that my personal learning style is more visual and active. I learn better when I see the actual picture rather than just hear words. I am more about learning the big picture and then seeing how the other pieces come in later.
