There are many things that influence teachers to use technology in the classroom. The ability to use technology is a very useful skill that makes everyones lives easier. Teachers in particular have standards that have to be met in order for their students to reach the goals that are mapped out for them to achieve success. The teachers need to make sure that their students become productive citizens in society and to do so, they need to be able to master the skills for understanding technology.  There are many easy tools such as press, photo story, etc that teachers can use and make their lives easier. Social networking also influences not just teachers but students as well. Social networking and interactive learning keeps students and teachers on their toes and keeps them updated and informed with the newest information. Students are influenced by their different learning styles whether they realize it or not. Learning styles determine which way is best for students to learn for example there are visual learners, linguistic learners, etc.

ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) is a set of technology standards set for students and educators. These standards of technology are federally funded and serve as an initiative for students and teachers. I feel like it is always a good thing to have an initiative but it is also benefiting both teachers and students to be technologically advanced so that is great as well. I feel like the Common Core Standards are very important and meaningful because this standard lays down the foundation for technology and also is like a bundle of multiple uses of technology in one. In this standard you're combining multiple skills from different areas to complete one general task. And then the NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) is a set of standards that I am not familiar with but they focus on the impact on current and future educators and if they have nationally accepted the criteria for teacher education.

I truly do agree that today's society is "digitally native." There is a drastic difference from people my age and kids now a days. Children even as young as two and three are already dependent on things such as iPads and TV's and things like that and it is so sad to me. When I was a kid, we played outside all day long and were actually able to hold a conversation. Kids today don't even talk to each other or even play outside, it is all about who has the newest form of technology and who has the latest iPhone etc. I also totally see a difference from people my age and then the generation of some of the older teachers and professors I currently have or have had over the years. Technology has advanced so much and it is way different from how it was in their day. Some of them are actually pretty tech savvy while others maybe are not and prefer the actual text book over an etext or power points. I feel like maybe we know more about technology than some of the older generations. That being said, I feel like in the future, the students we have in our classes might be even more technologically advanced than we are.
